Beijing Scale Factory is the key enterprise of large and special scale production appointed by China Light Industry Association. Affiliated to Beijing Changping Economic Commission, the factory is a medium state-owned enterprise with 47-year experience on scale production. The whole factory covers an area of 61351m2 including 25753m2, possesses a fixed capital of 58.99 million yuan with net value of 43.28 million yuan, and owns 359 working staff including 38 technicians. In 1998, its gross industrial output value was 16.58 million yuan, sale income 18.64 million yuan, and profit and tax 15.7 million yuan. Its products are mainly in four series: electronic series, electromechanic series, dial series and lever series. There are electronic automobile scale, electronic platform scale, package scale, ground scale, underground scale, single-trail crane scale and proportional scale--over 100 specifications. The products ever got honors of National Excellent Products and Ministerial Excellent Products and Beijing Municipal Excellent Products. It digital products ever got National Science Conference Prize. It is the only one getting this honor in scale industry. In 1984, the factory got honor of Beijing Civilization Unit Model; in 1986, it got the honor of Second-grade Enterprise on Measurement; in 1988, it got the honor of State Second-grade Enterprise--the first conferred with the honor in measurement industry. 　　Beijing Scale Factory has an early establishment in national scale industry. In 1960s, taking our factory as the main trial place, Ministry of Light Industry made design finalization and trial to lever series platform and counter scale, then present it in the whole country so as to form the first national standard in scale industry. In early 1970s, directed by the developing guideline of " change manual work to auto work, change mechanic work to electronic work", the factory developed dial series products and took the lead in realizing the aim of "change manual work to auto work". From the end of 1970s to early 1980s, the factory developed digital grating electronic scale and the first electronic charging scale in the country. It took the lead in realizing the aim of "change mechanic work to electronic work". In middle 1980s, the factory introduced abroad advanced technology and developed electronic automobile scale of world advanced level. It also produced various intelligent electronic scale instruments by joint cooperation with Taiwan company. Since recent years, through deepening reform and transforming managing system, the enterprise got a great improvement both on staff political ideology and technical expertise. During "Eighth Five-year Plan" technical renovation, the factory actively took use of new technology and renovated equipments so as to complete testing methods, improve production capacity, create scientific management, strengthen after-sale service and meet customers' demands at last. Though in heated market competition, its products has been sold over 29 provinces, cities and municipalities, exported to several countries in South East, Middle East and North America, and got good remarks and honors from customers.
